Hair: Removal | Permanent | Diode Laser

Permanent Hair Removal with Diode Laser Technology

The trend of permanent hair removal with Diode Laser Technology is explained in this guide. There are numerous styles of hair removal in the world, but in general, they are divided into two main categories: laser and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). Among them, IPL includes technologies such as Elight, SHR, and OPT. It’s a pulsed light technology.

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is the first hair removal technology that uses intense pulses of light that pass through a glass filter to treat the skin. However, IPLs do not have the capability to reach the root of the hair follicle, so they cannot permanently remove hair. Instead, they offer temporary results and are only effective for long, dark hair. Thin or pale hair, such as mustaches, are ineffective with IPL.

IPL technology was later upgraded to Elight and SHR, which improved the duration of hair growth suppression but caused burning pain and light burns during treatment.

Diode Laser represents a state-of-the-art advancement in hair removal. The diode laser uses a pure light wavelength of 808nm or 810nm, which is considered the gold standard for permanent hair follicle removal, including sensitive areas like the nipples.

The diode laser targets the roots of hair follicles, destroying the hair almost permanently. The hot welding beam used by diode lasers does not cause burns or leave a glowing gleam on the skin. Diode laser hair removal is combined with nano light rejuvenation, which helps reduce folliculitis and makes the skin brighter and smoother during the hair removal process.

Currently, diode laser is an FDA-approved hair removal technology that offers effective and safe hair removal. However, diode laser machines are up to 8 times more expensive than IPL, which is why many salons and gyms still use older IPL technology.

Despite the cost difference, diode laser treatments are much more efficient. Unlike IPL, which typically requires 10-15 sessions for noticeable results, diode laser treatments show significant changes after just 3-5 sessions. According to a study by the US Food and Drug Administration, diode laser hair removal achieved a 70% reduction in hair after 3 treatments, with a 99% removal rate after just one session.

Although diode laser technology is more expensive due to its advanced nature and advertising costs, it offers better long-term results with fewer treatments, making it a cost-effective solution in the long run.
