My Journey with Antibiotic Resistance
No one saw it coming. The process started with a small, painful sensation in my right buttock. As a diabetic, I'm prone to inflammations and infections.
Initially, I dismissed it as a minor issue, but it grew into an open sore. The pain escalated, leading me to visit the doctor, who prescribed a mild antibiotic. I hoped this would resolve the issue.
However, the pain intensified, making it challenging to write. I completed the antibiotic course, but my condition worsened. The doctor was puzzled and prescribed a stronger antibiotic with injections, but the situation only deteriorated.
I sought help from a clinic, where I received another antibiotic and underwent a culture test. Unfortunately, the wound continued to grow, and I began experiencing fatigue and signs of depression.
After several unsuccessful treatments, I learned I was resistant to every type of antibiotic available. This realization was shocking, and I faced the possibility of surgery to remove the infected area, which I was hesitant about.
After four months of dealing with this infection, I consulted a different doctor who introduced me to Microdacyn, a spray for difficult-to-heal injuries. This treatment has shown promising results.
Currently, my situation is guarded. I’ve realized the importance of using antibiotics conservatively and only when truly necessary.
