- Drink Plenty of Water: Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to help flush bacteria from your system through frequent urination.
- Baking Soda: Adding a tablespoon of baking soda to a glass of water can help neutralize the acidity in the urine, reducing bacterial growth.
- Blueberries and Cranberries: Some studies suggest that these berries can help with UTIs. They can be added to your morning cereal or oats.
- Cranberry Juice: Drinking 4 ounces of pure cranberry juice daily may help with UTIs. It can be diluted with water and sweetened to taste.
- Pineapple: The enzyme bromelain in pineapples may complement prescribed antibiotics. Including pineapple in your daily diet could aid in UTI prevention and treatment.
- Vitamin C: Increasing Vitamin C intake can help. Some doctors recommend up to 2,000 mg daily to increase urine acidity and prevent bacterial growth.
Preventing the growth of bacteria that cause UTIs is essential. Always urinate when needed and consider wearing cotton underwear to help maintain proper hygiene.
